Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire treating a sty in Joanie’s eye and helping her with some difficult spellings. Marsali comes in with news of a massacre, leading to the two women explaining to Joanie what that is. I do feel for children who have to grow up quickly. It is still the case in today’s world.

Marsali isn’t too sure about whether Fergus should publish something about it. It’s not because of threats, but because of who was connected to the massacre. Joseph Brant was involved, and Brant is connected to Emily. Ian’s Emily. Jenny thinks that they should publish but wants to speak to Jamie first to speak to Ian. With Rachel as Ian’s wife now, he shouldn’t keep feeling guilty about Emily.

Things are thrown off when Claire gets a letter from Lord John Grey. He offers up his home for Claire to turn into a surgery while she is still around. I love the way he thinks about her. That time together, while grieving, was special to both of them.

The chapter then moves onto talk of what is going to happen next. The Frasers are getting ready to head back to the Ridge. Will that include Marsali and Fergus?

This is difficult to determine. Fergus can’t do anything in the mountains, so he would need to set up a printshop in Wilmington. The war continues to put printers at risk, and Marsali shows Claire some of the threats that she’s received.

That’s when Claire sees another note. The threat is of a fire. What does this mean?
