Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 109 breakdown
Just the Outlander chapter
The chapter picks up with the MacKenzie family now at Dr. McEwan’s place. He uses the healing blue light on Bree’s ankle. When she doesn’t really react to it, he works out that she is also a time traveler.
After that, Bree and Roger are able to spend some time together in the surgery. After that, they discuss what they are going to do next. They need to get each other up to speed, of course, especially when it comes to whatever could be waiting for them in 1980.
Roger is concerned with affecting the future for others. If they stay in Cranesmuir for too long, they could affect things for Claire and Jamie. Of course, neither of them really want to leave Jamie to suffer the way he does, but that has to happen for Jamie and Claire to end up meeting. It’s a difficult situation to be in.
This is something that I love about this chapter. We get a chance to see the two really discuss events that have happened. We’ve seen Claire and Jamie attempt to change the future events, such as Culloden, but what if the events need to happen for something else to happen? Is the change really better than what actually happened? What is that Butterfly Effect?
