Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
There is some foreshadowing in this chapter when it comes to Buck and Geillis. Roger shares what he’s seen about Geillis. We have to remember that they’ve only seen the woman as Gillian Edgars in 1968 before she time-traveled. They’ve only heard the stories Claire has told them. Now Roger has seen her and seen the sort of pull she seems to have on men.
That includes Buck. We get a glimpse of what’s to come for Buck and Geillis, and it still sends shivers down my spine.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
Will we get to see this chapter used, though? I’m not too certain if Dr. McEwan will be used in the series. This is one of those chapters that could be adapted slightly to keep the MacKenzie family at Lallybroch. I want to see more of Brian on screen, and I do wonder if the writers adapt things for that to happen.
The Geillis parts could be adapted without McEwan. Roger’s throat hasn’t been the big concern in the show as it is in the books. We’ve heard Roger sing again in the show, which could be a hint not to expect Dr. McEwan to show up, even though I would love to see another time traveler.
