Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There is a moment in this chapter where Bree wonders if Jem can make water boil just by touching it. She thinks of this because of how he made Otter Tooth’s opal explode. This whole part didn’t make sense to me as surely Jemmy has touched water before and done thing to it. What it does is foreshadow that Bree realizes there is something special about Jemmy.

I also think there’s something in the fact that it’s water. If you’ve read Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, you’ll know that Mandy sees Jamie and Bree and Roger’s third baby as “water.”

Other than that, I think we just have plot development. We know that Bree is heading back through the stones, and this is just the beginning of it.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I do expect to see this chapter used in the TV series eventually. After all, I expect everything up to this point for Roger and Bree to be used, so the two need to find their way back to each other and then back in the past.

I don’t really think that’s up for debate, is it? Maybe we won’t see Bree go into all her theories, but we’re going to see the letter from Roger so Bree knows where she needs to go to get to her husband before going back to her parents.
