Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

This chapter doesn’t offer that much in the way of foreshadowing or really plot development. It’s all in the moment, as Denny gets to work on saving Claire. I love that we get to see this. After all, Denny has learned so much from Claire and he’s become a surgeon Claire trusts.

I think the only bit of plot development is in the mention that Rachel is off looking for Ian. He happens to be with the British right now. Will Rachel be able to help?

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I do expect to see this chapter used in the TV series. We’ve seen the other times Claire and Jamie’s lives have both been on the line. Look at the end of Season 1, the snake bite in Season 5, and Clarie being poisoned by Malva in Season 6. These are all important moments for Claire and Jamie’s connection to each other, so we’ll see it again I’m sure.

This chapter is also important for Denny’s development. We need to see him work on his own as a surgeon instead of being there to help Claire. We need to see that even when Claire is out for the count, Denny still remembers everything she taught him and he still respects her knowledge and opinions.
