Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

This chapter is more about plot development. Considering there is more to Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, it was always clear that Claire would get out of this. However, she needs to get to safety. This is all a plot to get Jamie to take a step that he wanted to do in the first place—resign.

This chapter also helps us understand where in the Battle of Monmouth we are. General Lee has been relieved of his command. This tells us that the Patriots are about to win. We know that from history.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I do expect this chapter to be used in the TV series. After all, this moment as a huge knock-on effect for Jamie’s storyline. Plus, we need to see Jamie’s reaction to Claire being shot. We’ve seen his reaction to Claire being injured before, but this one is completely unexpected.

I think we also need to see how the Battle of Monmouth plays out. It’s just such a huge battle for the Revolutionary War. There are images that suggest that we will see this, so I don’t see why this chapter won’t be used in full.
