Love Again has been through a lot of changes already. The movie has changed name twice now, and it’s moved release date a few times. The latest move should be the last.

Understanding why the move has happened is important. Is this because Screen Gem is worried about it, or is it just that the date it was going to come out on was a bad date?

For those who need a reminder, the Sam Heughan movie was set to come out on Friday, May 12. That would be Mother’s Day weekend. Now it’s coming out on Friday, May 5, a week earlier.

Why is Love Again on the move?

Movie studios move their release dates because of other movies that are coming out at the same time. The aim is to put the movies on better weekends. That is certainly the case with Love Again as Deadline explained when announcing the move.

The May 12 weekend is a big one for releases. It’s overcrowded, and that would suggest that not as many people would come to see this one. As much as we love Sam Heughan, there are going to be a lot of people heading out to see the second Book Club movie, especially for Mother’s Day weekend if they’re going with friends. With it being Mother’s Day weekend, there will be a few people not planning on going to the movies at all.

So, the movie is heading to the May 5 weekend. There is one big release to watch out for on this weekend. It’s all about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The good thing about this Marvel movie is that it will attract a very different crowd compared to the Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopra movie.
