Droughtlander suggestions: Watch Timeless on Hulu

We still have a bit of a wait before Outlander Season 7. Why not turn to Hulu for a time travel series? It’s all about Timeless.

It’s not easy getting through Droughtlander. The waits are long, even when we know when the end is. In this case, we know that Outlander Season 7 comes to an end in June, but there are two months until then. We need to find something to watch to get through the wait.

The good news is streaming platforms have us covered. There are a few shows that we can binge-watch right now in full. If you haven’t checked it out yet, Timeless on Hulu is a must.

What is Timeless about?

The 2016 series brings us time travel and romance. It started with a group of strangers coming together to form an unlikely partnership to save history. Lucy is a historian with a surprising connection to those who are trying to completely change history. Wyatt is a soldier who would love to be able to change one moment in time, while Rufus is a scientist and the pilot of the time traveling ship.

The trio heads throughout time, starting with the Hindenburg disaster and heading through various times and places. They meet people from history we only just wish we could see in person, including Eliot Ness, Harry Houdini, and Harriet Tubman. While trying to fit in with the time, they need to stop Rittenhouse, the organization attempting to change everything.

Why you need to watch Timeless during Droughtlander

What makes this series so great for Droughtlander? It all starts with the fact that it involves time travel. There are trips to places mentioned or seen in Outlander, including the time of Harriet Tubman. One of the reasons the show was abruptly canceled was due to the costs of production with all the period settings. Each episode is a different time period.

Another reason is the story of how history can change. During the very first episode, one small thing is changed and it has a huge, personal knock-on effect for Lucy. Something that comes up in Outlander now and again is how history can be changed or not, and Timeless shows that some changes have unexpected consequences.

Then there’s the love story. Of course, there is some sort of romantic tension between Lucy and Wyatt, but that’s not all. Rufus is attracted to someone in the series, but are those feelings returned?

While the series was abruptly canceled, it did get a wrap-up movie. You don’t need to feel like you’ll be left with characters just left stranded somewhere in time and space like what happened with the OG Quantum Leap.
