Sam Heughan has landed another project to keep him busy. It’s all about The Couple Next Door with Eleanor Tomlinson, but what is the series about?
STARZ and Channel 4 are bringing us a new psychological thriller. Sam Heughan will star as alpha cop Danny, who is the neighbor of Eleanor Tomlinson’s Evie. It’s another project for Heughan, who will continue to play the role of Jamie Fraser in Outlander Season 8.
Of course, the news of the series has only just dropped. This is a show that isn’t going to be out for a while, but that doesn’t stop us from looking into what it is going to be about. Is this something for Sassenachs around the world?
What is The Couple Next Door about?
The series follows Evie and Pete (played by Alfred Enoch). The two move into an upscale neighborhood, where they end up with status anxiety. All their neighbors around them seem to fit in, and they need to figure out how to do that too.
The problem for them is Danny (Sam Heughan) and his glamorous wife Becka (Jessica De Gouw). They seem to have it all, but why is Danny so interested in Evie? The two end up having a passionate night together, and that’s where things take a turn by the sounds of things.
The series is all about how claustrophobic suburbia can be. It’s a look at how people will chase their darkest desires, and then suffer the consequences of them.
This is not based on a book, but it is based on other source material. It’s loosely based on the Dutch series New Neighbours.
