Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Jamie talking about the upcoming battles. Finding the British won’t be difficult, but the Patriots need to hope that they have enough men to fight. Otherwise, the manpower could immediately mean a loss.

Jamie then realizes that he could use Claire’s knowledge to help. What does she remember about history from the textbooks?

Instead of thinking about what she knew about the Revolutionary War—why didn’t they get Bree to write everything down that she remembered before she left?—Claire thinks about another battle in the past. She thinks back to Culloden, and that leads to thoughts of Black Jack Randall.

This leads to her thinking about Paris when she asked Jamie not to kill Randall because of Frank. History isn’t always recorded properly, so how easy is it to change things? This is where it gets difficult because things can be recorded incorrectly because nobody knows the truth.

Claire ends the chapter thinking about the son Mary Hawkins had. All she knows is that he was called Denys, and she says a prayer for Denys Randall. What she doesn’t know is that Jamie’s son William has come across Denys Randall in the current time period.
