Does Rhys Montrose die in You Season 4, Part 2?
Rhys Montrose is in You Season 4, Part 2, but for how long? Does Ed Speleer’s character meet a similar end to Stephen Bonnet in Outlander?
Caution: There are spoilers for You Season 4, Part 2 in this post.
During Sasnak City 2022, Alexander Vlahos mentioned how he always dies in things that he does. It got me wondering about other actors on Outlander. Ed Speleers is in You Season 4, and he does appear in Part 2. The question is whether he meets the same end as Stephen Bonnet: one that takes him beyond the grave.
During the first half of the season, we found out that Rhys Montrose, played by Speleers, was the Eat the Rich killer. Would he meet a grisly end, or would the police catch him?
What happens to Rhys Montrose in You Season 4, Part 2?
We don’t have to wait too long to see what’s to come for Rhys Montrose. He doesn’t survive past Episode 7, so we’re only going to go up to there in the spoilers.
Joe is blackmailed by Kate’s father, Tom Lockwood, who gives Joe Rhys’s current whereabouts. This gives Joe the chance to kill Rhys for the murders, getting rid of the problem of Rhys Montrose from his life.
It’s not quite the same ending as Bonnet. Rhys isn’t arrested and then sentenced to death for his actions. Joe doesn’t kill him out of mercy—or maybe for closure. However, Joe does decide to strangle Rhys to death to protect his own identity.
That doesn’t mean it’s the last we see of Speleers’s character. Rhys shows up as figments of Joe’s imagination throughout the rest of the season. There’s also a surprise twist in the story, but I’ll let you watch You Season 4, Part 2 to find out what that is.
