Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Jamie telling Mrs. Hardman that he needs to get to Philadelphia. She gets right to work creating a concoction that includes mustard seeds and horseradish. Patience and Prudence help their mom, while Chastity is left in the care of Jamie. The two of them get along very well, and I love that we get to see him enjoy time with a baby. It’s something we don’t get to see much for Jamie.

Jamie is worried that he’ll need to drink the concoction. That’s not where it goes. It goes up the other end, and Jamie now worries about it dripping down his leg as he goes to Philadelphia. I can’t help but giggle at the whole thing.

Now Jamie is left to sleep. He can’t sleep very well, so he ends up thinking of Claire and Jamie. He realizes that he doesn’t blame Claire for what he did, but he is angry that she and John slept together. Jamie wants God’s help to forgive and Jamie is reminded of Mary McNab. Jamie realizes that he has his answer.

This also leads to him thinking about Chastity’s age. Mr. Hardman has been gone for some time. This child can’t be his, right?
