Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

The foreshadowing in this chapter is about Fergus and Marsali. Claire knows that the two can get into some trouble because of their work, but she isn’t too worried about them just yet. They are known Patriots. All it takes is one thing wrong and the Continental Army will come after them.

That’s what happens. Fergus’s print shop is burned down and the family needs to move again. I think we get the seeds of this happening. If only it didn’t have to be as devastating as it is.

Adapting An Echo in the Bone chapter

I want to see this chapter developed for the show for a couple of reasons. We need to see Jamie’s rage and how he doesn’t really know how he’ll react. That’s going to be difficult to show without him expressing his thoughts to someone, though. I could understand why it’s skipped over a little.

The second reason is we need to see what life was like for people during the Revolutionary War. So far, Claire and Jamie have stayed away from most of it by living in the backcountry. It was very different living in a town. That’s where everyone is now, and we need to see the fear and the threat of places being burned. I don’t really need the Hal part, but I do need to see Colenso and how Jenny wants to protect Marsali and Fergus.
