STARZ has made the decision to remove three shows from its platform. Will Outlander ever be one that leaves the streamer?

Things are changing in the world of streaming platforms. Streamers are removing their original content. It all started with HBO Max and now it’s STARZ. Three shows are leaving STARZ, but don’t worry; Outlander is not one of them.

Of course, seeing shows leave the streamer will leave a lot of Sassenachs worried. Is it possible that the streamer will choose to get rid of more original content? Could Claire and Jamie be in the firing line at some point?

Outlander is one of STARZ’s biggest shows

I doubt that Outlander will leave STARZ. Now, I won’t say it will “never” happen, but I’m pretty confident that it’s going to take a lot for that to happen. It would be a ridiculous idea on STARZ’s part.

Let’s make a note of the fact that this series is one of STARZ’s biggest hits. The three shows that have been removed are all underperformers that have been canceled. Well, Step Up did get saved by YouTube Red and that may also affect the removal, but Dangerous Liaisons and Becoming Elizabeth were both canceled after one season.

We know Outlander isn’t underperforming. While the live ratings look bad, it’s all about the people streaming on the app. Just look at the fifth season, which was one of the worst seasons in terms of live ratings on the channel but one of the best in terms of people watching on the app. The app views are really what STARZ wants to see. As long as people are watching, the show is pretty safe from being removed.

A renewal is a different matter. I’m still not sure about Season 8, but at least the episodes we currently have are very unlikely to leave STARZ.
