On the ninth day of Claire-mas, I take a look at the line of time travelers. Are Claire and Master Raymond related in any way in Outlander?

Every time travel has the time travel gene. This means they are all related in some sort of way in the world of Outlander. How could Claire and Master Raymond be related?

There’s a lot that we don’t know yet about either of the characters—or even time travel itself. We take a look at what we do know to determine if and how Claire and Raymond are related in the world of Outlander.

Claire-mas: How Master Raymond is related to Claire in Outlander

Diana Gabaldon has shared a little about who Master Raymond is. He’s a prehistoric time traveler, and it is possible that he is the first. Or maybe, he is one of the first. Either way, he’s extremely old, and he has been through many different time periods. He’s also helped some people travel through time, making sure they have the right tools and knowledge.

All time travelers have a gene that they inherit. This would suggest all time travelers are related in some way. They could all come from Master Raymond.

In fact, Gabaldon has also confirmed that both Claire and Geillis are distant relatives of Master Raymond. We just have no idea how that is right now. It seems like Claire and Raymond could be related a little more directly than some other as they both share the blue healing glow.

We’re waiting for the Raymond prequel story. This is something Gabaldon is potentially working on, although her main focus is on the 10th book in the main series right now. She also has a prequel about Ellen and Brian right now. With a Master Raymond book, we’ll get to learn more about where he comes from and how he’s connected to all the time travelers. Also, what exactly does he want?
