If you’re coming from out of town, you’ll already have your travel plans organized. If you’re coming from somewhere closer, you’ll be able to make some changes. It’s worth knowing when the last panel will start and end to make sure you don’t miss out on anything.

It’s worth trying to be at Sasnak City: The Gathering for the whole time. I made the mistake the first year of booking a flight on the Sunday afternoon. I didn’t have much of a choice due to work needs on the Monday morning, but this time I’ve arranged for a flight on Monday morning instead. The panels go into the afternoon on the Sunday.

The closing ceremony takes place at around 3 p.m. local at the event. It’s usually around an hour long, but these things can run over. So, while 4 p.m. is put as the finishing time, it’s worth trying to make sure you’re there for 4:30 p.m. at least.

If you’ve already booked plane tickets or made other travel plans, don’t worry about missing out on too much. While you won’t be able to attend the last panel, the people helping to run the event will make sure you get everything else. If you have photos and autographs that you haven’t got yet, talk to the volunteers at the event to make sure you fit it all in. This is what I love about this event. If it was something like NYCC, you’d be told “too bad,” but Gina and her team don’t want you to miss out on something if they can help it.

Then next time, you’ll be prepared for when to book your travel plans. Try to aim for late Sunday night or early Monday morning instead. Yes, you will want to go to another event.
