Is The Peripheral worth watching during Droughtlander?
Outlander fans are still looking for something to watch during Droughtlander. The Peripheral could be the time travel series for you.
Droughtlander continues. This one is hard, although not has hard as the last one. At least we know that filming is underway and the series should arrive sometime in 2023. The wait for it continues, though, and it means looking for something else to get us through the wait.
Amazon could have us covered again. After already bringing The Lord of the Rings, there’s another fantasy series. Well, this one is sci-fi, and it involves virtual worlds and some sort of time travel ability. It’s all about The Peripheral.
What is The Peripheral about?
Based on the novel of the same name by William Gibson, the series follows Flynne Fisher. When she takes on her brother’s job, she believes that she’s just supposed to enter the virtual world for work. She realizes that this universe is something much more. It appears to be a door to the future.
When she witnesses a murder in the world, Flynne needs to do everything possible to protect herself and her brother. Just who is the man in the virtual world with her? What is this future that hasn’t happened yet?
Why watch The Peripheral during Droughtlander
This is a series that brings a time travel element, which is sure to catch the attention of Outlander fans. Instead of Flynne going to the past, though, she’s heading to the future. Sort of. She doesn’t actually physically go there, and it’s all within a virtual world. It adds another layer to the time-traveling abilities.
Then we have the fact that there’s a big mystery to solve. Flynne has to find a way to prevent the future from happening. Sound familiar? At least it’s not her trying to stop the Battle of Culloden!
This is a series with a weekly release. There are eight episodes and eight weeks to tell the tale. It’s going to get you toward the end of 2023.
The Peripheral airs Fridays on Prime Video.
