There are some new faces joining Outlander in Season 7, and Gloria Obianyo is one of them. She will take on the role of Mercy Woodcock, who is important in Henry Grey’s storyline. Yes, the Greys are back!
If you don’t want to know anything about the character and her story, you’ve come to the wrong place. We’re delving into what her role is in Henry’s story in 1776 America.
Who is Mercy Woodcock in Outlander Season 7?
During An Echo in the Bone, Hal Grey ends up injured and captured by the rebels in Philadelphia. It’s 1776 America, and the Patriots know they have a lucrative hostage as Henry is the youngest son of Hal Grey. They need to keep Henry alive, but he has metal in his stomach that can’t be removed, so he’s not eating. The Patriots decide to send Hal to the Woodcocks.
Mercy is the wife of Walter Woodcock. While she nurses Henry back to good health, she develops feelings for him, and those feelings seem to be returned. In fact, Lord John Grey is concerned by these feelings. If Walter dies and Mercy becomes a widow, Henry could want to marry Mercy, and that would create a scandal in the Grey family. After all, Mercy is both Black and a Patriot.
Mercy ends up assisting Claire and Denzell when they work on removing the metal from Henry’s stomach. Mercy is the one administering the ether.
This storyline isn’t quite over in the books yet. We’ll have to see how it all ends up playing out. But Mercy is an important woman in Henry’s life, and it’s going to be fun seeing all that play out on screen.
