Derry Girls Season 3 ending

The third season ended with the Good Friday Agreement passing. This was a huge moment in Northern Ireland in the 1990s. Also known as the Belfast Agreement, it was designed to bring an end to the Troubles. There are still issues in Northern Ireland, but nothing on the scale that was seen in the 1980s and 1990s.

The passing of the agreement meant that Michelle’s brother would be released from prison. It turned out that he was a member of the IRA and had done some terrible things. Despite being republicans, neither Erin nor Michelle agreed with the violence in their country. However, Michelle was torn because this was her brother. It led to a falling out between the two friends.

In the end, they made up. Erin realized that while Michelle’s brother was wrong, she shouldn’t have wished he’d rot in jail. Michelle also realized that Erin wasn’t wrong in that view. She wasn’t right, but she also wasn’t wrong. It shows the level of confusion and complexity within the conflict in Northern Ireland at the time—and still a little of what is going on now.

We then jumped to Chelsea Clinton getting a letter from Erin inviting her to be a Derry Girl. This was a letter written back in Season 2, and it turns out that Chelsea didn’t ignore it. The letter was lost in the mail and finally found its way to its rightful recipient.

The heartbreaking death in Derry Girls Season 3

This was all a part of the bonus episode of the series. In what could have been the finale, we got a devastating moment. After Michelle put on a plea for Fatboy Slim tickets, pretending that James only had one leg, they managed to get to the concert. Their scam was realized and they were kicked out. It was after the concert that Clare for the devastating news.

Clare’s dad suffered an aneurysm and died suddenly. Her friends gathered around her as she sobbed, making it clear that they had her bad.
