The Nevers Season 1, Part 2 is not coming in October 2022

With House of the Dragon ending in October, we had hoped to see The Nevers Season 1, Part 2. That’s not going to be the case.

We knew that HBO wasn’t going to put anything on at the same time as House of the Dragon. It wouldn’t make sense, and there is the issue on only really having time for one HBO Original Series per week.

Well, we had hoped that it would mean The Nevers Season 1, Part 2 would arrive in October. House of the Dragon ends during the month, leaving one Sunday left. Sadly, that Sunday is not going to see the return of the Victorian supernatural series starring Outlander‘s Laura Donnelly. The White Lotus Season 2 will premiere instead.

When will The Nevers Season 1, Part 2 air on HBO?

It’s hard to say what’s going on right now. We know that production has finished, and the show should have gotten through the whole of post-production right now. It looks like it’s just waiting for a slot in the HBO schedule.

The White Lotus Season 2 will have seven episodes. That will take us to Sunday, Dec. 11. It could mean we see The Nevers run straight off the back of that, with a Dec. 18 premiere date. We’ll have to wait to see what the plan is.

It is worrisome that HBO has opted for The White Lotus as soon as there’s a break in the schedule. This series wrapped production long after The Nevers, so hasn’t had to wait to return to the network as long. It also has a strong slot in the fall, which is when big shows tend to return. This suggests that the network isn’t all that happy with the way The Nevers Season 1, Part 1 performed and it’s looking for just the best time of year to air it and then cancel it.

The fact that there is such a long break—we’re coming onto 18 months since Season 1 premiered now—is a sign that HBO doesn’t have a lot of hope in it. These long breaks make it hard to get the fans back, suggesting that this isn’t going to get a second season.
