Outlander Season 6 DVD review: What to expect?

It’s two weeks later than initially expected, but the Outlander Season 6 DVD and Blu-ray are now available. What will you get on the releases?

Originally planned for a Sept. 6 release, the Outlander Season 6 DVD is now available. Likewise, fans can get their hands on the Blu-ray and Collector’s Edition. We all have our preferred releases.

Thanks to our friends at Sony Pictures, we got a copy of the Blu-ray, which includes the Digital code. Just keep in mind that the Digital code is only for use in the United States. It also expires on Sept. 6, 2025, so you’ll need to use it by then.

What is included in the Outlander Season 6 Blu-ray

The DVD collection includes all eight episodes, two Outlander Untold stories, the blooper reels, and featurettes. You’ll get all this on the Blu-ray and Collector’s Edition too.

The DVD also includes a look at the animation used in the series. While not animation on the scale of The Boys or The Lord of the Rings, there is still some heavy CGI that requires a lot of work. Now is a chance to look into that. There’s also a beautiful featurette about the ghosts of trauma, which we know took up a lot of time throughout Outlander Season 6.

When you get the Blu-ray and Collector’s Edition, you’ll also get a few extra featurettes. There are deleted scenes, a look at the shootout at Fraser’s Ridge, and the original audition tapes for both Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe.

I do think the original auditions are a major reason to get the Blu-ray. We know it didn’t take long to cast Sam as Jamie, but it took some time to find Caitriona as Claire. That nearly didn’t happen, but the fates aligned, and fans want to see what it was that landed them both the roles.

The Collector’s Edition comes in a solid box and includes an excerpt from Outlander Book 10. At the back of the box is a 10-age booklet about Season 6. This booklet includes some animated art for some of the characters, including Mrs. Graham and Young Roger, and also has some of the drawings for costumes. It’s an extra chance to go inside the world of your favorite series.

There are four discs in both the DVD and Blu-ray to split up all the content.
