Will Ian Murray return in Outlander Season 7?
We’re excited to see Outlander Season 7 and all that it brings. Will it bring the return of Ian Murray? Could Steven Cree return to the series?

We would love to get all the details for Outlander Season 7 right now. Of course, that isn’t possible, but we can get some clues based on the photos we’ve seen from set and some of the filming locations. One of those filming locations was Midhope Castle, which is used as Lallybroch in the series.
Does that mean the Murrays are back? It is possible that the filming is for the present-day storyline. There are photos of Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin in 1980s-style clothing, and there is a storyline that involves Bree and Roger in their own time at Lallybroch. There is also a storyline in the past.
Ian Murray could return in Outlander Season 7
There is a chance we could see Ian Murray return. He does come back in An Echo in the Bone, but it is for a bittersweet reason. This is the storyline that gives us a chance to say goodbye to the character.
If the writers stick with the story, it will mean Ian returns. However, is Steven Cree available? We know there was a storyline planned in Outlander Season 5 at Lallybroch with Cree, but it couldn’t work out. The beard he had for A Discovery of Witches made it impossible to film so everything had to be scrapped.
We also know that Cree is currently in Barcelona filming another project. Schedules may have clashed too much to have him return to the series. Plus, it could be difficult to get Laura Donnelly back for Jenny’s storyline, which could disrupt everything in the Lallybroch storyline set in the past.
