We know that Jamie is actually William Ransom’s father. Will William ever find out the truth in Outlander? What happens in the books?
Eventually secrets come out. That is always the case with fiction as the secrets coming out help to add more to the story. There are a lot of secrets in the world of Outlander, and one of them involves Jamie Fraser.
He is William Ransom’s biological father. He stuck around Helwater long enough to make sure William would be raised well and to have some sort of connection to him. Eventually, he needed to leave, but not before ensuring that Lord John Grey would raise William.
That’s what has happened. William has grown up believing the deceased Lord Ellesmere to be his biological father and Lord John Grey his stepfather, who he does look up to as a father. Will all that change in the upcoming season? For that, we need to look at the novel An Echo in the Bone.
Will William learn the truth in Outlander?
William Ransom is going to show back up in Outlander Season 7. The show has casted the role, and now it’s time to see what’s next for the young man. He will have a connection to the Hunters at first, and then Young Ian and Claire Fraser come into the story with him. It takes a while for him to come back across Jamie.
When William does, he suddenly pieces it all together. There is always the mention that William has a strong resemblance to Jamie. That’s one of the reasons Jamie had to eventually get away from Helwater. He had to protect William’s inheritance and title. However, William realizes that there is something there.
At the end of An Echo in the Bone, William figures out the truth and it leads to anger with Lord John Grey. After all, Lord John Grey kept this a secret for so long.
If the series follows the book, William should learn the truth by the end of Outlander Season 7.
