Adult William is going to appear in Outlander Season 7. He’s also known as William Ransom, but what sort of role can we expect this season?

Caution: If you haven’t read An Echo in the Bone, there will be some spoilers from this book in the series.

We have already met William Ransom in Outlander. He first appeared in Outlander Season 3, and then he returned in Season 4. He is Jamie’s son with Geneva, although raised by Lord John Grey and believed to be the legitimate son of Lord Ellesmere, who Jamie killed when William was born.

We will get to see him once more in Outlander Season 7. This time, William is all grown up, and we’re ready to see what that means for storylines.

Adult William in Outlander Season 7

William plays an important role for a few storylines. One of those is with the Hunters, as he ends up being a direct connection between Denzell Hunter and Dorothea Grey and between the Frasers and Rachel Hunter.

He also meets the child of other characters we’ve met in the past. While not cast yet, there is a strong chance we’ll see Denys Randall-Issacs, the son of Mary and Alex Randall. Of course, people believe that Denys is actually Black Jack Randall’s son, but we know the truth.

There is a point where William gets lost in the woods. It’s Ian and Rollo who find him and help him, and William has met Ian before. We know this from Drums of Autumn/Outlander Season 4.

William is on the British side of the war. That’s not surprising considering he is Lord Ellesmere now. He needs to fight on the side of the Crown, but he does allow Ian and Claire to leave despite Claire being taken as a Prisoner of War. Ian uses the debt from finding William in the woods.

Throughout all this, William doesn’t meet Jamie. It’s only at the end of An Echo in the Bone when it turns out that Jamie wasn’t on board a ship to the Colonies that sank. William sees his resemblance to Jamie, and suddenly, it all starts falling into place. That’s where we end the storyline in An Echo in the Bone, which is where I could see Outlander Season 7 also ending things.
