Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with finding out where Jamie was taken. He’s in some sort of boat shed and he’s trapped in a tight space. He’s not panicking, though, which most people would. You see, he knows that Ian will have seen everything and will come for him.

Jamie is more concerned about Claire. He doesn’t know where she’s been taken, or why Richard Brown has gone with her alone. All Jamie is certain of is that Tom Christie probably won’t let Brown and his men kill Claire. Now Jamie just has to figure out where his wife is.

Ian does eventually turn up, and he knows where Claire is being taken. Brown and Forbes did work at Cross Creek, and Forbes said that a sheriff in New Bern might take Claire. This is good news. They can get to New Bern once they get out of the current situation. It’s also not surprising that Forbes is the one working with Brown. Of course Forbes would do whatever he could to cause problems for the Frasers.

If Claire is somehow found innocent at her trial, the scandal would be enough to cause problems for Fraser’s Ridge. It would be ripe for picking, with Forbes someone who wants to get his hands on it to cause problems for Brianna.

It also turns out that the plan was to get Jamie on a boat to England. That boat is one of Stephen Bonnet’s ships. Why is it not surprising that Bonnet is involved in all of this?

Jamie considers killing Bonnet. However, he needs to get to Claire first. So, he and Ian plot their escape without anyone else seeing them. I love that Jamie chooses Claire over revenge.
