How old is Brianna Randall Fraser in Outlander?
Brianna Randall Fraser MacKenzie is an important character in Outlander and has been through some tremendous growth. How old is the character supposed to be?
When it comes to character growth, Brianna has had some of the best development in the books and the show. Some will call her bratty at first, but I don’t see that. I just see a young woman trying to figure out what she wants to do in life, grieving the loss of her dad, and learning that her dad actually wasn’t her biological father after all. Oh, and she can time travel.
That’s a lot to take in. Her attitude isn’t all that surprising when you consider it all together.
Over the years she has grown into a wonderful woman, a great mother, and a loving wife and daughter. Just how old is she when we first meet her in the books and series?
Brianna age in Outlander
Brianna is one of the younger adults we meet in the series. She was born on Nov. 23, 1948. By the time we pick up the story in 1968 in Voyager, that makes her to be turning 20 that year. She is seven to eight years younger than Roger, who she ends up falling in love with and marrying.
She is still grieving at the time of learning the truth about Jamie in 1968. Frank died in 1966, and at that point, Brianna is figuring a lot out. She has started college, and she’s still mourning (or maybe even trying to avoid mourning). Then she learns that her father is an 18th-century highlander!
If we look at her age once she’s in the past, she is in her 20s. We can figure out her age quickly by working out the year she would have been born. Claire and everyone travel 202 years into the past. So, Brianna should have been born in November 1746. That means she’s 28 when the Revolutionary War starts and she is 34 when the war comes to an end on Sept. 3, 1783.
