What happens to Black Jack Randall in Outlander?
Outlander has a lot of villains, with Black Jack Randall as the first (and worst?) of the lot. What happened to him in the books and in the show?
Sometimes it can be hard to keep track of characters in TV shows. With a blink, some characters just seem to disappear. This isn’t really the case with Outlander, but it has been the case with other TV series.
If you’re new to the series, you’ll have already grown a dislike for Black Jack Randall. Actually, let’s turn that to hatred. There is nothing to like about this man, even when it comes to his love for his brother. So, you’ll want to know what happens to him and how long he’s around.
The storyline for Black Jack Randall is the same in the books as well as the show. Here’s a look at how his end came.
Black Jack Randall died at Culloden in Outlander Season 3
Randall is a problem from the very beginning. There are a few times that Jamie could have killed him but didn’t, and one of those was that night Jamie was hanging in the window for six months…
During the second season, Jack and Jamie duel. This leads to Jamie stabbing Jack in the privates, which likely sets up his inability to have children. This is never commented on, though. It just ends up being poetic that the ancestor that looks so much like him (Frank) is unable to have children.
It’s in Outlander Season 3 that we find out what happened to Black Jack Randall. Just as Claire told him, he dies at Culloden. This is at Jamie’s hand, with Randall’s body falling onto Jamie’s on the battlefield. In fact, it’s this that inadvertently saves Jamie’s life. Randall’s bodyweight on Jamie’s leg prevents him from bleeding out from the wound Randall caused.
