When it comes to characters we love to hate, Malva Christie is going to be close to the top of the list. She manipulated a lot, although it’s clear that she was also abused and manipulated by the men in her family.
While she isn’t a well-liked character, there’s no denying that Malva had some major moments. She was a big player in the story throughout Outlander Season 6, and here is a look back at her top five moments from the season.
5 best Malva moments in Outlander Season 6
5. Telling Young Ian about her family
We start off the lookback with the scene between Young Ian and Malva. The two have a chance to connect, and we later find out from Young Ian that something intimate did happen between them. Before that, there was an important conversation.
Malva shares a little about her mom. It turns out her mom was hanged as a witch. Well, she may not be the only Christie woman who is a witch. This is just foreshadowing things still to come.
4. Heading out to the Sin Eater’s cabin
Those things to come are the next top moments in Outlander Season 6. When the women find the love charm, Malva stays very quiet. It’s only later that we get to find out why.
Malva heads out to the Sin Eater’s cabin, where is he very much dead and has been for a while. I love that the TV series showed us what was going on here rather than just later tell us. We get to see for ourselves that Malva is up to no good, and she’s a very dangerous woman.
3. Her reaction to the ether
As she learned all about medicine, it looked like she was finding a way out of the life her father wanted for her. However, it turns out she was paying attention for other reasons. That didn’t stop some very natural reactions, and one of them was toward the ether.
Malva watches as ether knocks people out and then they can wake up. It isn’t quite like sleep. Malva can’t help but connect it to things her father has said, which isn’t surprising considering the upbringing she’ll have had.
2. Telling everyone the story in church
Look, we don’t like that Malva accused Jamie of adultery and fathering her child, but it was a brilliant moment in Outlander Season 6. However, it was the scene afterward that stands out the most. Malva tells the people in church about her innocence being taken.
The great thing about this story is that it’s true. Her innocence was taken by someone she trusted. That someone wasn’t Jamie, though. It’s going to be important when the truth about the father of her baby comes out.
1. Wanting Claire’s help
After accusing Jamie, Claire attempts to extend an olive branch. She knows that Malva is young and impressionable. Claire just wants to help.
There is a moment in the episode where Malva’s walls break down. She desperately wants to tell Claire the truth, and then Allan comes out of the house. You can see Malva’s whole demeanor changed, and this is essential to understand that Malva isn’t just doing this to be evil. There’s a much bigger story.
