Is Young Ian the father of Malva’s baby in Outlander?
As rumors spread across the Ridge about Jamie, Young Ian came to Claire with news about who could be the father of Malva’s baby in Outlander. Is it possible that Ian is the father?
During Outlander Season 6, Episode 6, Claire’s near-death experience was the least of her problems. Months later, the Christies came to the Frasers with news. Malva is pregnant and she claims that Jamie is the father.
That led to rumors spreading around the Ridge. Everyone believed what Malva had said partly thanks to Mrs. Bug spreading some of the rumors. However, Young Ian turned to Claire with a confession. The baby could be his.
It turns out Ian and Malva did sleep together. It was only the once, but we all know how these things work. Just look at Brianna and Roger. They’d only slept together once and Jemmy was born. So, is it possible that Young Ian got Malva pregnant?
There are other possible fathers on the Ridge in Outlander
Well, yes, technically it is possible under the current circumstances that Young Ian is the father of Malva’s baby. That is with the facts that we currently know.
Malva claims that she got pregnant during the sickness. We know Ian slept with her before that. With the way time needs to pass for traveling, though, it surely would have been months earlier. However, we all know that the series isn’t so great with keeping consistent with time for travel, so we’ll not try to work that out.
Claire notes that Ian isn’t the only person Malva slept with. There’s at least one more: Obediah Henderson. There are likely more men on the Ridge.
All we have to do is look at the books for the answers, but we’re not going to do that in this post. We’re working with what we know based on the series, and right now, it’s certainly plausible that Ian is the father, but it’s highly unlikely. There’s far more drama to come.
