Why are Bree and Roger leaving the Ridge in Outlander Season 6?
The images for Outlander Season 6, Episode 7 suggested that Bree and Roger were leaving the Ridge. Is this happening, and why?
When it comes to character development, sometimes it has to happen away from the Ridge. That’s the case for Roger’s upcoming storyline and is sure to take place in the Outlander Season 6 finale. It seems off that the writers would leave it for the finale, but we have to remember that originally, the writing wasn’t done this way.
The show was supposed to have 12 episodes to the season. Things had to be reworked for various reasons when the show was cut from 12 episodes to eight. Bree and Roger was never supposed to be a big moment in the penultimate episode. That doesn’t mean it’s not important.
Roger and Bree leave the Ridge temporarily in Outlander
Unlike the big moment in the Outlander Season 5 penultimate episode, there wasn’t a huge goodbye scene for this exit. That’s because Bree and Roger are leaving the Ridge temporarily. They are planning on coming back, and they’re planning on being back in time for Brianna to give birth to their second child.
Roger and Bree are heading to Edenton. This is for Roger’s journey to become a minister. He needs to become ordained, and that means doing a month-long training.
In the book, Roger leaves alone. However, in the series, the writers have decided to keep Bree and Roger together. This is potentially to join together some other storylines as Roger’s journey to becoming a minister happens much earlier in the books, timed with Flora MacDonald’s barbecue.
So, Bree and Roger will be back. Will it be in the Outlander Season 6 finale? Possibly not. I have a feeling that things won’t be completely wrapped up in time for this season to come to an end and we’ll see them return in the seventh season. We know everyone is eventually back together in the seventh season based on a promo photo, so it makes it clear that this is a temporary thing.
