STARZ in talks for Outlander Season 8 and beyond
Our eyes are on the future of Outlander right now. It turns out that Matt Roberts and co. are in talks with STARZ about Outlander Season 8 and beyond.
There are plenty of rumors that Outlander Season 7 is going to be the last. I’ve always been of the opinion that I’ll worry about the fate of the series when someone official tells me to worry about it. If Sam Heughan or Caitriona Balfe really did hint that the seventh season was the last, then I would consider it more of a gentle warning more than the current rumors we have.
It turns out that the rumors may be just that. Diana Gabaldon has shared that there are talks for Outlander Season 8 and beyond.
Will Outlander Season 8 happen at STARZ?
A fan on Twitter asked if Outlander Seasons 8 and 9 were happening. It all came off the back of the announcement that Season 7 is now in production, which certainly makes all our hearts happy.
The bad news is that there isn’t anything planned for an eighth season just yet. That doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
In reply to the question, Gabaldon shared that right now, talks are happening. This is all that is in the works right now, with no guarantee that Outlander Season 8 will happen. However, we know how popular this series is. While the live ratings don’t look great, we know that a lot of people watch directly on the app. After all, Season 5 didn’t look great in the live ratings but turned out to be one of the most-watched seasons of the series when the app ratings were considered.
We can only hope at this point. We’ll need to wait and see if STARZ agrees to run another season or more of our favorite time-traveling drama.
