Is a new episode of Outlander on tonight? (April 17)
For the last six weeks, we’ve been taken on one devastating turn after another in Outlander Season 6. Will that continue tonight, Sunday, April 17?
We have some disappointing news for all Outlander fans out there. STARZ isn’t bringing us a new episode of the series tonight. It doesn’t matter if you watch on the STARZ App or if you wait for it to air on the channel.
The worse news for those who watch on the channel is that there won’t even be a rerun tonight. STARZ is opting for a rerun of Power Book IV instead. It’s not clear why this is the case, but it could be linked to the Power series being the biggest shows on the network. If you have the STARZ App, though, you can watch as much Outlander as you want.
Why isn’t a new episode of Outlander on tonight?
The lack of new episode is purely linked to the fact that it’s Easter weekend. People will travel to see family, and this makes it harder for people to watch the episode. Instead of risking the ratings on the day of release, STARZ has opted to give the show a week off.
This isn’t all that uncommon. There’s only been one season that didn’t have a week off—Season 4. We did see the ratings take a dip over the Christmas and New Year period during that season so STARZ may not want to run the risk for this season.
When will a new episode of Outlander return?
There is some good news when it comes to the return of the series. There isn’t long to wait. A new episode will air next Sunday, April 24.
We have just two episodes to go this season. Season 6 was shortened from 12 episodes to eight due to the pandemic and Caitriona Balfe’s pregnancy. We’ll get the four episodes added into Season 7, which is currently filming, and will head back to Lallybroch.
