Outlander Season 7 production has started
This is not a drill! Outlander Season 7 is officially in production in Scotland. What does this mean for a release date on STARZ?
Of course, one of the biggest questions as we get closer to the end of Outlander Season 6 is all about Droughtlander. How long will the next Droughtlander be? We need to know when filming starts to even get some sort of idea.
The great news is Outlander Season 7 is now officially in production. The official social media accounts shared the exciting news, with a picture of the Frasers and MacKenzies at the Ridge. It even looks like it’s in the Big House, which means maybe the fire doesn’t happen?
This doesn’t mean filming has only just started. There’s a good chance that filming started at least a month ago. The cast and crew like to keep filming quiet so the fans don’t flock to them and so spoilers are leaked. Showrunner Matt B. Roberts doesn’t like spoilers, especially when it comes to changes here and there to keep things fresh for everyone.
When will Outlander Season 7 come out?
So, what does this mean for the Outlander Season 7 premiere date? Nothing right now.
Executive producer Maril Davis did previously share that Season 7 would come out at the end of 2022 or early 2023. There is still a chance for this to happen with filming starting now. However, it’s likely to be half the season.
We know Season 7 is going to be 16 episodes long. We could see something similar to the first season where there’s a six-month Droughtlander halfway through the season. It allows to keep this upcoming Droughtlander shorter, especially after the almost-two-year Droughtlander we just faced.
There are still rumors that this season is going to be the last. They are rumors at this time. We’ll await news from someone official before grieving the (eventual) end of the show.
