3 best Roger moments in Outlander Season 6, Episode 2
Roger preaches at a funeral that isn’t your usual funeral in Outlander Season 6, Episode 2. Here are his three best moments from the episode.
We get some great moments from A Breath of Snow and Ashes throughout Outlander Season 6, Episode 2. When it comes to Roger, it did mean the inclusion of THAT funeral. This all certainly foreshadows Roger’s journey throughout the next set of episodes, and it’s not going to disappoint.
At the same time, we see him interact more with various characters. Not only does he and Brianna share some more screen time together, but we also see him spend time with Fergus. It’s time to look back at his best moments from the episode.
3 best Roger moments in Outlander Season 6, Episode 2
The reaction around phosphorus
We get a great moment at the start of the episode which does come from the books. Brianna has received white phosphorous from Lord John Grey, and she’s going to make matches from it. Roger knows of phosphorous from his own time and is immediately a little wary around it.
He trusts Brianna and her skills. He knows that she wouldn’t do anything to burn their cabin down. That doesn’t stop him from choosing to stay away from the phosphorus. I love how they both stick to their own things and have complete respect for each other. This is what makes them such a power couple.
Dealing with the funeral
Then we get to the funeral. This is an important moment for Roger’s journey as he finds his place in the past, but the scene also gives us some of the most hilarious moments of Outlander so far. And yes, Outlander as a whole!
He takes Mrs. Wilson waking up in his stride. After all, he trusts Claire and what she has to say. He knows that Claire understands medical surprises like this. He can also use it as a way to bring calm and assurance to the people around him.
What I really love about this moment is seeing Roger’s confidence. He’s slowly been through a character growth while he’s been in the past. While there was an understandable step back for a short period of time last season, he’s back into the mindset of the laird’s son-in-law.
Giving Fergus a stern talking to
Fergus is on one hell of a downward spiral right now. Marsali makes it clear that it’s shame, and it really is. Fergus needs to pull his way out of it as soon as he can, but it’s going to be a long journey. It will require the help of others at the Ridge.
This is where Roger comes in. As Marsali went into labor and there was the panic over whether she’d survive or not, Roger went out to find his brother-in-law. There was no way that Roger was going to go easy on Fergus. He gave Fergus the stern talking to that he needed at the time. There will be a time for more empathy and consideration later in the season.
