Just the Outlander chapter

We start with Claire and Marsali. Claire notes that Henri-Christian is healthy other than being a dwarf. A lot of parents would shun him out of disappointment or shame. That’s not Marsali’s way, though. She is protective of the baby already.

Young Ian comes in and shows that he will be protective, too. He shares that he’s spoken with Fergus, who hasn’t been around since the birth. This is a chance for Young Ian to share that he had a child.

Emily was pregnant, but it’s clear that there was some sort of complication. Young Ian doesn’t get to be a part of whatever is happening to Emily, so he runs away from the camp. While out, he realizes that there are wolves hunting.

He notes that it’s the “hour of the wolf,” and this is why one of the episode titles for Outlander Season 6 stood out for me. The title of Episode 4 is “The Hour of the Wolf.” More on that soon!

Young Ian manages to kill one of the wolves. He realizes as the dawn starts to break that the wolf is a female and her mate is still out there somewhere. When one of the Mohawk, Eats Turtles, turns up, Young Ian learns that he had a daughter and she was wrapped in a rabbit’s hide. Eats Turtles tells him to get the wolf’s hide for his son when he is born.

Before that, Young Ian needs to hunt the female wolf’s mate.

Back with Marsali, Young Ian shares that Fergus is dealing with things right now. However, he will be back eventually. He believes it from experience.
