Tom Christie is going to show up in Outlander Season 6. Who exactly is this character? Will he be friend or foe to the Frasers?

In the books, Tom Christie is initially introduced in The Fiery Cross. It’s not until A Breath of Snow and Ashes that he becomes a big problem. We’re going to get into these book spoilers, so if you haven’t read them yet and don’t want the spoilers, this isn’t the post for you!

Tom hasn’t shown up in the world of Outlander yet. We do know that he’s coming. He’ll be played by Mark Lewis Jones, and we’ve already had some teases of the character so far.

Outlander Season 6 spoilers: Who is Tom Christie?

Tom is a former Ardsmuir inmate. That means he’s good, right? Well, no. He and Jamie do not get along.

Tom is a Presbyterian while Jamie is a Catholic. This was a time when the different versions of Christianity just didn’t get along. Christie didn’t fight at Culloden, but he was connected to the Jacobite Army and he left too late on the day and ended up being arrested by the British forces.

However, after the deaths of his first and second wives, Tom needs to find a home for his children Allan and Malva. That means heading to Fraser’s Ridge, where Jamie has offered all those at Ardsmuir a chance to settle.

During the course of the sixth book, Tom meets and falls for Claire. When Claire is charged with the murder of Malva, Tom can’t bear to see her hanged. So, he confesses to the crime instead, even though it wasn’t him either! That’s the last we see of him in the sixth book, but he does turn up in the seventh book.

It turns out that Tom was the one to place the obituary in the paper after the fire. He’d heard about the fire and assumed that Claire and Jamie had perished.

How much of this story will be used in Outlander Season 6? We could get the majority of it. In fact, I think we might see it all through to the end, bringing a few Book 7 storylines forward to the sixth season of the TV series.
