When is Outlander Book 10 coming out?

We’ve only just had Outlander Book 9 released, but many fans have already worked their way through the entire book. How long is the Outlander Book 10 wait going to be?

Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone only came out on Tuesday, Nov. 23. That didn’t stop fans from jumping straight into the novel. In fact, some fans got an earlier start due to the way some stores released the book or shipping was done early to ensure an on-time delivery.

It’s not surprising that many fans are now looking for more. This book definitely left us with a lot of questions, and we know that Diana Gabaldon is already working on Outlander Book 10. That’s the next (and potentially final) book in the Claire and Jamie series.

So, how long is the wait going to be? Let’s take a look at expectations.

Outlander Book 10 release date predictions

It takes several years for Gabaldon to write the Outlander books. Many of the previous books took about five years, but it has been seven years between Books 8 and 9.

If we go with the seven years for Outlander Book 10, we’re looking at the end of 2028 as a release date. That’s a long time, but there will be at least two more seasons of the TV series while we wait.

There may be a chance that the time to write can be reduced. The ninth book took longer due to more press appearances thanks to the TV series. Gabaldon also wrote some of the novellas and episodes for the Outlander series. This all took her away from writing the ninth book.

Of course, we know that Gabaldon doesn’t write in a straight line. She’ll write the scenes that come to her mind; the scenes her characters tell her to write. This can lead to some snippets for other books being written, and we know that she has a prequel novel focusing on Ellen and Brian and potentially a Master Raymond book in the works.

If we say 2028 and it comes sooner, that’s all the more exciting. Plan for the longer wait.
