Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 105 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
There is a bit of foreshadowing in this chapter of Mandy coming. Bree and Roger will have another child. I’m sure some people may have worried that Roger would have treated Jemmy differently when there’s a child he knows is biologically his, but that’s not the case at all. There’s never even a thought of how he wants a child he knows is biologically his. It’s just that he wants another child.
There’s also a bit of foreshadowing of Roger’s journey still to come. He dreams of singing again. While that may never happen, he still needs to use his voice for a purpose.
Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter
The chapter wasn’t used in Outlander Season 5. I doubt we’ll see it at all, and I’m okay with this. We just need quick mentions of Roger’s singing or his thoughts about singing here and there to see where his mind is at. These sorts of conversations can also happen off-screen. They don’t add all that much to the story as we move into Outlander Season 6.
The dream journal hasn’t been used at all yet on the show. As Bonnet is already dead, there’s not really any need to include it at all now.
This does feel a little more like a filler chapter more than anything else. The lack of it on the show really doesn’t bother me when there’s so little time on there.
