Roger learns a little about blood groups from Claire in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 97

There’s is always a question over Jemmy’s paternity in the Outlander books. There is a way Claire could help indicate whether Roger is Jemmy’s father or not, and that’s brought up in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 97.

Diana Gabaldon has since confirmed who Jemmy’s biological father is. She says one particular moment should prove it, but that doesn’t stop the questions. After all, Roger and Brianna have never checked in with a DNA test.

It is brought up every now and then. The “now” is in The Fiery Cross Chapter 97, when Roger and Claire discuss blood groups. Roger finds it fascinating for obvious reasons. However, will he run the risk of finding out that he is not Jemmy’s biological father?

There is some foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s only a little, and it’s pretty obvious what that foreshadowing is. Jemmy’s parentage is going to keep coming up in the books.

The chapter wasn’t used in the TV series, though. There wasn’t really much of a need for it, in my opinion. I’ll get to why I think that in the adaptation breakdown.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 97.
