Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

This chapter doesn’t have all that much foreshadowing that I can see. It’s more about catching us up on where Franny Beardsley is and getting a start on Roger’s spiritual journey. This chapter is more about plot development for Roger as he starts to figure out what he’s going to do in the past.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter wasn’t used in Outlander Season 5. That’s not all too surprising. Roger has a chance to go through a semi-spiritual journey in a different way, with Young Ian playing a part in it instead. For the TV show, having Young Ian as part of that is a bit more important. Young Ian is a crucial character and we need his development at the same time.

We don’t really need to know what happened to Franny Beardsley after she left Claire and Jamie with the baby. It doesn’t play a big part in the overall story. Everything that happens in the series has to have a bigger meaning.

I don’t mind that we skip this from a TV show point of view. We still get Roger’s development on the series and there’s more time for that in Outlander Season 6.
