House of the Dragon is getting a little more Outlandish. Wil Johnson is one of the familiar names among the latest cast announcement.

If you thought Graham McTavish was going to be the only reason to watch House of the Dragon, think again. Another Outlander cast member is joining the series.

Wil Johnson was among the list of names announced earlier this week. We get to know a little about his character Ser Vaemond Velaryon, but not enough to really give away just how long he could last in the series. This is a Game of Thrones prequel, and we’re not expecting some characters to last all that long judging by the original series.

Who will Wil Johnson play on House of the Dragon?

According to TVLine, Johnson will play Ser Vaemond Velaryon, the younger brother to Coryls Velaryon. Vaemond is the commander of the Velaryon Navy, so we should see a fair bit of him throughout the series.

I do believe there is a quick glimpse of him in the House of the Dragon teaser trailer. There’s a moment where the Velaryon family is walking down the hall to greet the Dragon King, and I do believe we get a glimpse of him at the back.

The series is set 200 years before Game of Thrones, so you won’t see any of the characters you’ve already come to know and love. It tells the story of the Targaryen dynasty, the one that lasted hundreds of years before the Baratheons killed almost all Targaryens for the sake of one Stark woman.

We don’t have a premiere date, but we’re getting more and more excited about this series as more casting announcements are made. Will we see any more Outlander cast members join the series?

House of the Dragon will be on HBO and HBO Max in 2022.
