Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldon is heading to shelves in less than two months. Where will it sit in the Outlander book timeline?

With so many Outlander books, understanding the order of the timeline is important. Maybe you just want to make sure you read the main books in order, or maybe you want to figure out when to add the Lord John Grey books into your read-through.

We’ve already shared the chronological order of the books. Now there’s the ninth book in the story. Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone is heading to shelves on Tuesday, Nov. 23, and you can already pre-order the book.

Before you start reading it, you’ll want to know where it goes in the timeline. Which books do you need to read if you want to follow the story of Claire and Jamie in chronological order.

Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone is the ninth Outlander book

The novel is the ninth of the main Outlander books. This will also tell you where about in the timeline it sits.

The main books are all in chronological order. You start with the first book, Outlander, and work through each one in turn. Bees will come after the events of the eighth book in the story, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.

At the end of the eighth book, people were coming over the Ridge to Claire and Jamie. It’s time to find out who they were (although I think we all knew deep down who they would be). Brianna and Roger are back from the 20th century. They’ve brought their children and escaped from the dangers of their own time, returning to Claire, Jamie, and their lives in the 18th century.

Depending on your reading speed, there may not be enough time to get through all eight books before Nov. 23. Chances are you’ve read all the books at least once, though. Maybe jump to the eighth book to remember everything that happened there, and then you can jump straight into the ninth book when it’s out.
