Tanya Reynolds is the direct link between Sex Education and Outlander. In fact, it’s really the only link when you consider the topics and genres of the two shows. I will say that Sex Education does offer some focus on strong female characters and does touch on sexual assault, two topics that Outlander has covered.

The Netflix series itself is set in rural Wales, mostly in a private school. We focus mainly on the sixth formers, teenagers aged 16 to 18. They’re discovering their bodies, learning more about sex, and figuring things out with their partners and themselves. There are some serious topics but there’s plenty of comedy along the way.

There are strong chances that the series will be renewed. While Netflix does have a bad habit of canceling shows around the third season, this is unlikely to happen with Sex Education. It’s one of the most popular comedies on the streaming platform, sitting No. 1 in 70 countries according to What’s On Netflix.

When does the new season of Sex Education start?

If the show is renewed, we’re looking at the new season taking at least 14 months to arrive on Netflix. That means we’re looking at around November 2022. It could take a little longer.

This is going to depend on a number of factors, including if there are any pandemic shutdowns. There are still problems with pandemic protocols slowing the filming processes down in some parts of the world. However, we’re hoping as we get into 2022, things will be a little more stabilized.
