Tobias Menzies wins at the Emmys 2021 for The Crown

Tobias Menzies was one of the surprise winners at the 2021 Emmys. He landed a win for his role as Prince Philip on The Crown Season 4.

We all know the Outlander actors deserve more awards than they’ve ever got. Some of them are landing wins outside of the STARZ series, and Tobias Menzies is the latest one added to the list.

Menzies has been nominated a few times for the Emmys, including for his role as Prince Philip on The Crown Season 3. However, he hasn’t won yet. That all changed with the 2021 Emmys.

It was a tough competition during the night. Menzies was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor against the likes of Michael Kenneth Williams for Lovecraft Country, Bradley Whitford for The Handmaid’s Tale, and Giancarlo Esposito for The Mandalorian.

Well, Menzies managed it!

The Crown took a lot of Emmys during the night. Olivia Colman won Best Lead Actress and the show itself won Best Drama. Menzies took the win for Best Supporting Actor.

He wasn’t there to receive the award. That wasn’t surprising as none of The Crown actors were. He wasn’t at the London telecast either, meaning he couldn’t give his acceptance speech. Kerry Washington accepted the award on Menzies’s behalf, where she was also able to offer a nod to Williams, who sadly passed away on Sept. 6 of this year.

It is an excellent win for the Outlander actor. The Crown Season 4 is Menzies’s last time playing the role of Prince Philip. While the Netflix series still has another two seasons, the cast is changing once more. Game of Thrones‘s Jonathan Pryce will take on the role for the final two seasons.
