It’s been a good weekend for projects with Outlander stars. Belfast premiered at TIFF 2021 this weekend and won the People’s Choice Award.

There’s no doubt we’re excited to see projects with our favorite Outlander stars. We love to support them in everything we do, and seeing their projects win awards is all the more exciting.

This weekend has been great for the Outlander actors. the 2021 Emmys saw Tobias Menzies take a win for The Crown Season 4. It also saw Belfast claim a win at TIFF 2021. While it wasn’t Caitriona Balfe specifically, the win puts the film on Oscar radars and that could mean something amazing for Balfe.

The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the biggest film festivals of the year. We were certainly excited to see Belfast premiere there, with Kenneth Branagh there to promote his movie. It’s been a labor of love for him, and it was one of the first movies to film in Northern Ireland after the lockdowns in 2020.

This is a huge moment. The last nine People’s Choice Award winners at TIFF have gone on to receive nominations for Best Picture at the Oscars. Nomadland was the winner at the Oscars last year.

We’re still waiting for the movie to be released to the public. So far, it’s received some excellent reviews from the critics. The black-and-white movie is all about Branagh’s life growing up in one of Northern Ireland’s most tumulus times. We focus on a young boy who is just trying to enjoy life as the adults around him start arguing and fighting.

Outlander‘s Balfe plays Ma, young Buddy’s mother who is married to Jamie Dornan’s Da. They’re a working-class Northern Irish family simply trying to figure out the best moves with the troubles ahead.

Belfast premieres on Nov. 12.
