The Outlander stars have a chance of showing their star power in many movies now. Caitriona Balfe stuns in the Belfast trailer.

We love supporting the Outlander cast in their other projects, and one that is coming up is Belfast starring Caitriona Balfe and Jamie Dornan. They play a couple living in the late ’60s, a turbulent time in the Northern Ireland capital.

The trailer is out now, getting us ready for the November release date. It certainly gives us a chance to see Balfe shine in another type of role. This time, she even gets to use her own natural accent.

Belfast trailer highlights the struggle of the time period

The 1960s were a difficult time in Belfast, Northern Ireland. There doesn’t seem to be a good time in the city in recent decades. The ’60s is when things really started kicking off. Families had to choose sides, and they ran the risk of being attacked by their own neighbors if they chose the wrong side.

Kenneth Branagh directs Belfast, which is a semi-autobiographical movie based on his life. Balfe plays “Ma,” the mother to young Buddy, played by Jude Hill. He just wants to have fun, but he faces loss as well as laughter during the turbulent time. The trailer offers a look at the fun he wants to have, but it also makes it clear that fun is out of the question at times. The adults are rallying together, but which side will Buddy’s family fall on?

Jamie Dornan is Da, Ciarán Hinds is Pop, and Judi Dench is Granny. The movie has received some excellent reviews at Telluride already, making it clear that it stands a chance of winning some Academy Awards.

This is going to be a movie you want to see. It’s all filmed in black-and-white, giving it that classic feel for an important time in Northern Irish history.
