Just the Outlander chapter

Roger heads back to his own camp, which is when he comes across a group of women doing laundry in the river. When Roger recognizes one of the women as Morag MacKenzie, he can’t help but go over and see her. He wants to find out how she’s doing, while trying to protect her from the battle to come.

Morag is shocked to see Roger. Naturally, she has no idea about the familial connect to Roger. Only he knows because he’s from the future. So, for Morag, he’s just the man who saved her and her son Jemmy on the ship.

The two talk and Roger learns that Morag had a home. There is no home to go back to. She doesn’t explain everything, but Roger can make sense of the situation. Buck is fighting with the Regulators and Morag and Jemmy have come along like many of the women of husband would have done. Roger warns her that there’s going to be bloodshed and she and Buck should get away.

This is when he makes his mistake. He kisses Morag without really thinking about it, and Buck sees them. Buck understandably believes that Roger is making a move on his wife, and it’s even worse when he realizes that Roger is part of the militia. Roger realizes the danger he’s in and tries to get away, but Buck catches up to him.

Roger doesn’t have much time to think, except that Buck isn’t just the son of Dougal MacKenzies. He’s also the son of Geillis Duncan. There’s a viciousness in him. However, a boom in the distance interrupts his thoughts and ends the chapter.
