Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 64 breakdown
Roger lands himself in trouble with an innocent mistake in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 64
As Roger makes his way back to his own camp, he comes across someone from his past. It leads to trouble in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 64.
Roger really should learn how to act in the 18th century. To be honest, we all do things without initially thinking. They’re just things we’re used to doing because of the way we’ve grown up or social norms from where we come from. It’s only after that we realize what we did was some sort of mistake.
That’s what happens here when Roger sees Morag MacKenzie. He views her as family now that he knows who she is, even though she has no idea. It’s only after that he realizes the mistake he made. And that’s only because a certain ancestor turns up.
The chapter was partly used in the series. We didn’t get the full chapter, especially when it comes to Roger trying to get away from Buck. However, that was linked to the time available in the episode, and I didn’t mind that we didn’t have the full thing. I’ll get to that in the adaptation.
This chapter doesn’t really foreshadow the trouble to come. It’s all about plot development from this point. We’d had plenty of foreshadowing of this moment.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 64.
