Kin Season 2 won’t have to share Maria Doyle Kennedy with Outlander
Kin had to share Maria Doyle Kennedy with Outlander during the filming of the first season. That won’t be the case if Kin Season 2 happens. What does this mean for her character on Outlander?
During AMC+’s summer TCA panel on Tuesday, Aug. 17, the cast and creator of Kin discussed the show. Maria Doyle Kennedy wasn’t there, but we know she’ll play a role on the series. It turned out that the show had to share her with Outlander during filming.
This gives us an idea that the Irish actress will return to Outlander for Season 6. That’s not too surprising considering the storyline to come. The news that Kin Season 2 won’t have to share her with Outlander also isn’t all that surprising.
Of course, the Irish series hasn’t been renewed yet. The first season is only dropping on AMC+ starting Thursday, Sept. 9. It will then air weekly, and AMC+ will want to see what the streaming numbers are like before renewing it. However, there are plans for more.
Maria Doyle Kennedy won’t be part of Outlander Season 7 but will be on Kin Season 2?
The news that Kin Season 2 won’t need to share the formidable actress could mean that she won’t be part of the second season. However, it mostly hints that her time on the time-traveling drama is over.
The latter is more likely. If the show continues to follow the books, Doyle Kennedy won’t be part of Outlander Season 7. Jocasta doesn’t remain at River Run, leaving during the sixth book for her own safety.
We weren’t sure whether we’d see her be part of Season 6, but there are hints that she will be there for some of the story. Hopefully, it’s to give us a goodbye since a character that has been so important for two seasons needs to get her own goodbye scene.
