Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

The plot development here is on Betty’s murder. There is still a bit to work out with that. Claire has figured out how Betty died, but not the why or who. That’s something for everyone to now focus on.

There is also the question of who the second man was. It was easy to assume that it would be Wylie. After all, Jocasta would know who Wylie was just based on sound of voice and even maybe smell of him. So, who could have feared her realizing who he was?

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter wasn’t used for the series. We didn’t have the murder storyline, and we didn’t have Bonnet showing up at Jocasta’s wedding. The series went a different direction, a necessary one to make things work for TV.

I didn’t mind skipping all this. The murder storyline turns out to be a mistake and it was supposed to be someone else involved. That someone else was Duncan Innes, and he didn’t get the focus on the show that he got in the books. It didn’t make sense to include a big storyline around him.

The Frenchman’s gold storyline wasn’t used either. Having Bonnet at Jocasta’s wedding without that storyline didn’t make sense. There is still time for the gold to be used, but it’s hard to say whether it will be.
